How client confidentiality is handled

Owners hesitate to explore a sale for one reason above all others: the fear that employees, customers, competitors or lenders will find out before there is anything to tell them. Protecting against that is the first operational requirement of the engagement, not a courtesy.

The business is marketed blind

Public-facing material describes the business generically — industry, general region, revenue and earnings ranges, and the basic shape of the operation. No company name, no street address, no photographs of premises, no customer names, and no detail specific enough that someone in the trade could identify it. Advertising is written with the assumption that a competitor and an employee will both read it.

Buyers are screened before they learn anything

Anyone who inquires completes a buyer profile covering background, acquisition criteria and financial capacity, and signs a non-disclosure agreement. Only after that does the Confidential Business Review — the full buyer-facing document — get released, and it is released to a named individual, not forwarded freely. Buyers who will not identify themselves or will not sign do not receive information.

Owner contact is controlled

Buyers do not call the business, visit during working hours, or approach staff. Meetings are arranged off-site or after hours, and site visits happen at a stage where the buyer is serious and the owner has agreed. Where a landlord, franchisor or lender must eventually be notified, timing is planned with the owner in advance.

Our standing offer to you

A complimentary Broker Opinion of Value for any client you send us.

No fee. No obligation to list. No engagement letter. Send us an owner who wants to know what their company is actually worth and we prepare it at no charge — a real number instead of a rule of thumb, with you still the trusted advisor in the conversation that follows.

And no referral fee — in either direction. We do not pay them and we do not ask you to accept one. You are compensated by the client work the deal creates on both sides of it.

What a referring advisor can and cannot be told

The client decides. In most referrals the owner authorizes us to keep the advisor informed, which is the arrangement we prefer — you are more useful in the file than outside it. Where an owner asks that the process be kept between us, we honor that without exception, and we will not confirm to anyone, including the referring advisor, that a particular business is or is not represented.

You will always be told whether we received the introduction and whether an Opinion of Value was completed, because you sent it. Beyond that, our disclosure follows the owner's written instruction.

Information handling

Financial records, tax returns and diligence materials are shared through controlled channels with named recipients, and access is closed when a buyer withdraws or an agreement terminates. Nothing about a client's business is used in our marketing, on this site, or in conversation with other advisors.

Confidentiality survives closing

We do not publish sale prices, buyer or seller names, or transaction details after a deal is done. That is why every deal reference on this site is generic and unattributed, and why our track record is described only as hundreds of transactions closed in Texas and nationwide since 2002. The two named testimonials on this site are published with permission.

Questions advisors ask

What can you tell me about my own client's process?
Whatever your client authorizes. With their consent we keep the referring advisor informed through the process; without it we confirm nothing at all, including whether the business is listed.
Do employees find out?
Not from us. Marketing materials carry no company name, address or identifying detail, and buyer meetings are held off-site or after hours.
When is the Confidential Business Review released?
Only after a buyer completes a profile, demonstrates plausible financial capacity, and signs a non-disclosure agreement.
Does confidentiality end at closing?
No. We do not publish sale prices, client names or transaction details after closing, and we do not use a completed deal as a named reference.
